Whether you’re an early bird arriving post morning surf, with a bucket and spade in hand ready for a day at the beach, or whether you’re arriving after a long Sunday lie in, here are our favourite seaside breakfasts from Salcombe to Polzeath.

Buffet English breakfast at the Winking Prawn

A good old fashioned English breakfast is the way we like to start the day at the Winking Prawn.  First thing in the morning from 8.45am, a buffet of sausages, bacon, cooked tomatoes, sauté potatoes, mushrooms, beans and black pudding with a side of toast and jam.  Little ones can tuck into a kids breakfast for £3.95, and can we point you in the direction of a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows for a decadent start to the day?

Brunch at Island Street Bar & Grill

Our new weekend brunch menu from midday at Island Street Bar & Grill is perfect for lazy mornings.  Feel good factor food that’s hearty and tasty, inspiration comes from across the globe but local ingredients are key.  Already proving seriously popular is the chorizo and caramelised onion hash, complete with a poached egg and a little rosemary to really lift the flavours.  It has buckets of flavour and is one of chef’s favourites.  It’s an excellent pick me up if you’re feeling a little groggy!

Continental breakfast at Sailor V

“The biggest sausage I’ve ever had for breakfast,” said one happy customer on Tripadvisor.  Breakfast is a bit of a speciality at Sailor V, and in addition to a hearty brunch menu that ranges from a full English to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs to avocado on toast, we also do a continental breakfast with options that are both a little naughty and very nice.  Chocolate muffins or toasted banana bread with yoghurt and honey are favourites while good old fashioned porridge with honey or a granola sundae are classic favourites.

Make your own breakfast butty at The Cracking Crab

Bacon, sausage or egg?  Nothing beats a simple breakfast butty - preferably after a morning surf or swim at Polzeath Beach.  Salt in your hair, sand between your toes and a bacon butty with a good cup of tea - isn’t that what weekends by the beach are all about?
