COMPETITION: win seafood and beer at the Winking Prawn

Posted by thewinkingprawn on January 27, 2017

For many, this will not come as a surprise, but as we’re launching a competition this week to win a sharing platter lunch for two and Budvar to go with it, we thought you might like to know why it’s such a perfect combination…

Seafood is classically paired with white wine, but few things beat a cold beer to go with your crustaceans.  Foodie blogger The Kitchn says that “the very first rule of pairing beer and food is that anything goes.”

That said, a good guide is to team food and beer according to intensity - try lighter beers with starters and salads and heavier beers with hearty, rich main meals.

Aside from the flavours, which would be the sophisticated thing to think about when teaming food and beer, there’s also the question of location.  What could be better than a cold beer by the sea, especially when you happen to be sitting at North Sands taking in the view.  For that reason, Budweiser Budvar is the perfect Czech lager, taking 102 days to brew and because of their no-shortcuts attitude to brewing. To find out more about them follow them on Twitter @BudvarUK.

So, here’s the idea.  Between 28th January- 4th February 2017, we’re giving you the chance to WIN a seafood sharing platter for two, and Budvar to go with it, to enjoy at the Winking Prawn at a time to suit you.  There are a few terms and conditions (it wouldn’t be a competition without them), but all you have to do is sign up to our newsletter to be in with a chance to win: SIGN UP NOW.

Winners will be selected at random on 6th February 2017.

Good luck!
